SPERMOPHILUS RICHARDSONII

SPERMOPHILUS RICHARDSONII

Spermophilus is a genus of rodents in the Sciurid family.

They are commonly called citelli even if in Italy the term is often used to refer to the only European species inside the genus, the Spermophilus citellus.

The name Spermophilus comes from the Greek words sperm ("seed") and philos ("lover"): "seed lover" (a reference to the eating habits of these rodents).
